Biography

Dr. Athanas was born in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She worked as an outpatient pharmacist at the Cambridge Health Alliance Hospital for a few years after graduation, as well as Target Pharmacy. She moved on to work for the VA Medical Center in Boston for 6 years. She worked in the outpatient pharmacy as well as for the Inpatient/Oncology department. During her time at the VA, she worked with the Cardiac Rehab group as well as working as a co-leader for the smoking cessation group. During this time she was a part of the residency committee, precepting residents and pharmacy students. She was very passionate about academia and once she had accumulated the experience she felt she needed, she transitioned into academia and worked for 2 years for Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in the Experiential Education department, as well as teaching classes. Once she relocated to South Florida, she wanted to continue teaching and started working as a Adjunct Faculty for the school of Pharmacy.
